Cincinnati airport has nation's highest fares

The government is again putting Cincinnati's main airport at the top of its list of airports with the highest fares.

The U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics said this week that a round trip from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport cost an average $476 during the April-June quarter of this year. The airport ? known as CVG ? tied with the one in Memphis as the most expensive in the nation.

The national average round-trip fare was $370. The lowest fares in the country were at the Atlantic City, N.J., airport ? averaging $205.

Cincinnati's airport is dominated by Delta Air Lines and has been ranked as the costliest for air travelers in previous survey. CVG has been trying to hook a low-cost carrier.
