THE REASON
At the heart of our commitment to our field sales agents and brokers lies a promise to deliver a
comprehensive marketing an sales solution. At Assurant, we understand that in order to deliver
on this promise, we must engage a commitment to improving the way we manage our
relationships with our brokers.
This position works collaboratively with the field sales team to develop broker relationships by
participation in the MVP program. Strategic Account Managers (SAMs) are active participants
in the recruitment, screening, and implementation of new brokers. The SAMs then deliver
marketing programs and consulting to brokers through a customized approach with the objective
of:
? Growing AEB sales
? Supporting AEB consultative sales approach
? Strengthening rep and broker relationships
? Growing the brokers business
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Marketing Support
? Work with the MVP broker and other AEB participants, such as the Sales Rep, EBA,
Sales Manger and home office staff to develop annual action plans for MVP brokers that
address specific business needs/opportunities. Example programs include co-branded or
private label direct marketing pieces, new business strategy development, and
benchmarking data for cross selling, lead lists for targeted prospecting efforts, seminar
development/marketing assistance, referral programs, product training, marketing plans
and ?tailored? sales tools (market specific requests).
? Work with marketing MVP program strategic partners, services vendors, agencies,
freelancers, and internal resources to deliver marketing recommendations.
? Market and promote the MVP program to sales offices and sales reps. Assist reps with
initial broker presentations as needed.
Project Management
Oversee the relationships and related projects for 40 or more MVP brokers. Associated tasks
include:
Monitor and assist in reporting MVP broker new business (quotes, sales, and case performance).
? Train and follow up on programs with sales reps, sales managers, and internal
departments to facilitate the execution of marketing and sales programs.
? Track various marketing programs from conception through completion.
? Track and maintain spending and project budgets.
Manage MVP Program enhancements or maintain program functions. Each SAM has at least one
area of MVP that they own (manage, develop, and execute while being accountable for its
results. Examples include Roundtable & Forum, MVP Communications, Strategic partners,
Training plans, Email discussion group tool)
? Develop new enhancements or implement new approaches to improve our results or
increase efficiencies
? Maintain those areas of responsibilities to hit anticipated results, including budgets
? Communicate and promote any program changes.
Analysis
? Provide assistance with all report tracking required by the Marketing Analytics team in
order to issue accurate reports.
? Using MVP performance metrics and relationship assessment to be able to recommend
MVP program termination/probation status.
? Assist in the interpretation of a broker?s business performance and build marketing and
business recommendations.
? Build project plans that incorporate investment and spending analysis for marketing
programs
? Assist in the team?s annual planning exercises to improve MVP program results.
? Track sales offices? overall MVP performance and build recruitment and sales plans,
accordingly.
Selling and Promoting MVP
? Participate in broker presentations. This may include one on one meetings as well as
training sessions and seminars for MVP Academy, groups of brokers or large multiple
producer firms.
? Assist & participate in the brokers? introduction to MVP and in the selection process,
working with managers and reps to canvass their territory for potential MVPs, and
screening nominated brokers.
? Hold annual planning meetings (or call) and at least one mid-year update meeting (or
call) with all non-probation MVP.
? Provide MVP related marketing support to his or her respective sales offices.
? Negotiate sales goals and address performance results.
? Bachelor?s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent
work experience.
? 3 years of marketing experience or related business experience such as business
consulting to small businesses.
? Requires thorough knowledge of marketing concepts and business to business marketing
methods.
? Requires specific experience in development and implementation of marketing programs,
including direct marketing, branding, lead generation, web site design, sales literature,
and PR
? Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate marketing
ideas, plans and results to all levels within the company and to MVPs and their
employees.
? Strong project management skills to accomplish strategic goals and related tasks.
? Good organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple complex tasks in a timely
fashion.
? Incumbent to be self-motivated to work independently or as part of a team to complete
multiple projects/tasks in a timely and accurate fashion.
? Ability in building relationships and establishing credibility for the MVP programs.
? Proficiency with Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
? Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, often requires overnight visits
